Company
Degerö Boat OY / FI
The Boatyard Kristeri & Co was founded in 1980. The founders, Risto Kristeri and Seppo Mäkelä are still with the company. Risto Kristeri is the managing director and is responsible for the quality of the woodwork and administration. Seppo Mäkelä is responsible for the quality of fibreglass work.
The first model was the Degerö 28 MS, which is the yard's own design and was the only model until 1985. Along with the Degerö 28 MS the yard produced production tools for the other new yards setting up production sites in the neighbourhood.
In 1985 the yard launched the first Degerö 35 S that was designed by the Swedish designer Håkan Södergren. With this boat the yard was elevated to a new class. In 1990 the first Degerö 33 DS was completed, it was designed by the Finnish designer Hans Groop and was a deck-salon boat. The boat was similar in concept to the smaller Degerö 28 MS but the Degerö 33 DS is a pure sailing boat. In 1992 the first Degerö 33 S was built. This boat has the same hull as the Degerö 33 DS but has a windshield rather than a cabin. In 1998 the yard presented a new Degerö 38 DS. The designer is the Degerö-Team with the young Finn Olli Salmela doing a big part of the design as well. This boat was designed for all seas and for all conditions. In 2004 Degerö Boat Oy presented the new Degerö 36 DS sailing boat, designed by Håkan Södergren which so far was the last new model.
In 2000 with the Degerö 31 DS the yard presented the smallest real Decksalon-Yacht on the market, designed by Marc-Oliver von Ahlen. Production of that model later caused founding of the Degerö Germany Yachtbau GmbH.
At first there were four members of staff. Today Degerö yard employs eight people. The company currently has a long order list and the future of Degerö boats looks very good. Degerö Boat OY is owned by Risto Kristeri and responsible for whole production of Degerö-Yachts apart from Degerö 31 DS edition.
Degerö Germany Yachtbau GmbH / GER
Alexander Berg
Degerö Germany Yachtbau GmbH started business in 2001 when the high demand especially on the new Degerö 31 DS could not be fulfilled by the finish capacities. At the beginning just the completion of that particular model was done in Fahrdorf / Germany before transferring the furniture-production and lamination-job to Germany. Today the whole boatbuilding-job is done in Fahrdorf. Between 200 and 2006 appr. 20 Degerö 31 DS edition have been delivered.
Apart from production of the Degerö 31 DS edition and the sales and marketing for the complete range of Degerö-Yachts in Germany and around, the company started natural growth of capacity and carfully added several other legs of business to fill it. In 2003 the company started B2B-activities for the european boating industrie, successfully offering the "Boat Individualizing and Delivery System" (B.I.D.S.) to famous European Production yards and their north european dealers.
Since 2006 the Cruiser-Racer "IME Cafe 28" is partly produced (whole job apart from lamination) in Fahrdorf and since 2007 the "Biehl 8.8m-Daysailor" is in production. In addition we are building the classical dinghie "Scangaard 21" and are responsible for several "One-Off-Projekts". Last but not least we offer refit, winterstorage, reaparation and maintenance.
Following the history the yard today is still deeply connected to Degerö Boat OY, but owned by Alexander Berg and responsible for their own figures. Together die Degerö-Group is presented to the interational public as a strong brand with two flexible production facilities and an active network especially in Scandinavia, United Kingdom and Germany.
Future
On midterm a careful re-design of the Degerö 31 DS to a Degerö 32 Decksalon- and Classic/Sailingversion is planned. The Scangaard-Line offers further potential to be taken serious as well as additional "Individual-" or "One-Off-Projects". Do not hesitate to contact us for your own ideas.
